Located in the heart of Rapid City, the Journey Museum and Learning Center offers people of all ages a dive into the history of the Great Plains through interactive exhibits and displays. Hosted by the museum’s Executive Director Troy Kilpatrick and Sarah Carlson, “The Journey Files” podcast takes listeners on a journey through time, exploring topics of the area’s Lakota Nation, such as the importance of the region’s bison, or Tatanka,  and sharing the stories of fun roadside attractions like Rapid CIty’s Dinosaur Park. They also give listeners a glimpse into the future of the museum, including sneak peeks of new exhibits.

The annual Red Cloud Indian Art Show is the largest and longest-running Native American art show of its kind in the country, and it is one of only a few held on an indigenous reservation hundreds of miles from any urban area. This year, patrons can visit the art show virtually and support artists via their online shop. Art show dates will be announced soon.

Rapid City’s Reptile Gardens, named the world’s largest reptile zoo in the 2018 Guinness Book of World Records, has thrilled and delighted guests with their diverse wildlife viewing experiences and educational opportunities since 1935. Though it is currently closed for social distancing, the zoo is offering glimpses behind the scenes in their Facebook video series, “David Learns Stuff”. In each episode, viewers learn about various species of reptiles, amphibians, avians, and more that have a home in Reptile Gardens. From feeding patters to behaviors and conservation, these videos are a family-friendly way for animal lovers to explore the zoo.
