The 2018 festive season marks the 20th anniversary of the Christmas and Winter Market at Munich Airport. Now through December 26, travelers from around the world as well as local residents will enjoy handicrafts, toys and traditional sweet and savory Christmas treats, daily from 11am-9pm. The market consists of 44 booths and real Christmas trees, making it a perfect setting for a winter stroll, a shop for gifts, and a place to sample treats while enjoying the sights, sounds and aromas of the season.

Visitors will also love the market’s annual ice rink. There’s no better place to show off skating skills or try out “Eisstockschiessen,” Bavaria’s answer to curling. Rental skates and curling rocks are available rinkside for a nominal rental fee.

Food is a key part of the market, and there are offerings for everyone including regional treats like bratwurst, gingerbread and organic almond cookies, hot punch or mulled wine; new creations such as hot caipirinhas; and local specialties including Rahmfleckerl, a flatbread creation topped with cream, bacon and chopped chives or green onions.

The 20th anniversary edition of the market will also uphold the tradition of outstanding entertainment with a line-up featuring musical genres from Bavarian-themed pop to rock, gospel, swing, Latin and jazz. Performers take the stage from Tuesdays to Sundays starting at 6 pm. Kids have their own programming, too, both at the market and in Munich Airport’s Kinderland.
