The Rough Guide to Everywhere – the travel podcast that goes out of the guidebook and into the wild – is back with wonderful new stories, new guests, new locations and new hosts Rebecca Hallett and Neil McQuillian. In this exciting and entertaining podcast, we chat with people who inspire us from around the world—comedians, authors, adventurers—all with stories to tell, plus dispatches on the road from our team of Rough Guides writers.
In season three, we pick up where last season left off – taking a sideways glance at some fascinating places. We discover more about Haiti through the eyes of a music journalist, bypass the blue-footed boobies to look at the Galápagos’ human side, and head down a pot-holed road with some very badass women on the anti-poaching frontline in South Africa. But we also delve into issues and ideas our curious, adventurous listeners will want to know about. What does the “solo female traveller” label mean today? Is the secret to your ideal holiday hidden in your DNA?
In the first episode of the new season, Rough Guides web editor Neil McQuillian joins author Thomas Rees as he dives deep into the vodou culture of Haiti – encountering artworks made from human skulls and plenty of evidence that, hey, President Trump might not rate the place, but it could be the best trip you ever take. Episode 2 is all about a majority female anti-poaching group in South Africa. Episode 3 features solo female travel and will be a roundtable with Host Becca, Rachel Mills, Jay Abdullahi, and Rebecca Lowe. Future episodes include Overtourism in Malta, Northeast of England, and USA’s Crazy Horse Memorial.
